NEW ROTARY PRESIDENT BRINGS DECADES OF SERVICE EXPERIENCE TO ASHTEAD

Ashtead Rotary Club has welcomed Nick Drake as its new President, bringing with him more than four decades of experience in Rotary and community service.
Nick's appointment marks the latest chapter in a Rotary journey that began in Bristol in 1979, when he first joined Rotaract, Rotary's organisation for young adults. He subsequently became involved with clubs in Hillingdon and Caterham before joining Caterham Harestone Rotary Club in 1994, where he went on to serve as President on two occasions.
His commitment to Rotary has extended well beyond individual clubs. Over the years, Nick has held several senior positions within Rotary District 1145, the organisation that supports clubs across Surrey, Sussex, South and West London, and Northern Hampshire. In 2020, he served as District Governor, one of the most senior voluntary leadership roles within Rotary. He continues to support our local Rotary District through a variety of responsibilities, including information technology, promotional design and the staging of major meetings and conferences.
Having joined Ashtead Rotary in 2022, Nick became President of the club in July 2026 and is now leading an ambitious programme for the year ahead.
It is understood that one of his key priorities will be supporting the local community through a range of projects, including the club's flagship event, Ashtead Rotary Village Day, which will take place on 12 June 2027. The event is the club's principal fundraising activity and generates much of the income used to support charitable causes both locally and internationally.
Under his leadership, the club will also continue its longstanding support for communities overseas through donations to a variety of charitable organisations and Rotary's own international charity, The Rotary Foundation.
Membership growth is another important objective. Nick believes that increasing the number of members will strengthen the club's ability to deliver practical service and make an even greater contribution to the community.
Alongside these goals, he is keen to ensure that Rotary in Ashtead remains an enjoyable and engaging organisation, providing opportunities for friendship, fellowship and meaningful volunteering.
As Ashtead Rotary looks ahead to another busy year of community projects and fundraising activities, members are confident that Nick's extensive experience and enthusiasm for service will help the club continue to thrive.
